Holy Week – Good Friday

Today Christians around the world commemorate the events of the Passion of Christ two thousand years ago. Here are two works that reflect on this in different ways.

First, a setting of the Reproaches from the Catholic Good Friday service, with the words adapted by Gail Stubbs and sung to a psalm tone by Thomas Tallis.

Anima Christi/Seven Last Words by Mike Stubbs. Anima Christi is probably best known as the hymn ‘Soul of my Saviour’, set as a backdrop to the words of Jesus on the cross, as recorded in the Gospels.

Both recordings are generated using the Cantamus app for the vocal parts.
