Pentecost Sunday

As we once again celebrate the ‘birthday’ of the church, here is some music inspired by the feast.

First, a musical setting of the sequence ‘Come Holy Spirit, Lord Of Light’, written in 2012 to celebrate Archbishop Patrick Kelly’s golden jubilee of ordination to the priesthood.

This recording is from one of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral’s golden jubilee concerts in 2017.

The second piece, ‘Veni Sancte Spiritus’, takes inspiration from how the coming of the Holy Spirit changed the lives of the apostles – and through them, the world.

The first performance by Liverpool Hope Metropolitan Singers and Orchestra, Liverpool Hope Singers and the choir of Sacred Heart Primary School took place at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral on Saturday 20th May 2023.
