New recordings from Liverpool

On Saturday 28th June I had the opportunity to record a couple of the recent additions to my ‘St Paul of the Cross Little Organ Book’ project on the grand organ of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. First up is the Eastertide Flourish, which is based on two themes: the special dismissal sung at the end of mass during the octave of Easter, and the Hymn Tune ‘Maccabeus’, commonly associated with the Easter hymn ‘Thine Be The Glory’.

The second is a saraband trio based on the hymn tune for the hymn to the Holy Trinity, ‘Firmly I Believe and Truly’

I also made a quick recording of Herbert Howells’ gem, ‘Master Tallis’s Testament’ from his Six Pieces for Organ.
