Three months and 175 pages after I began, the first draft of my setting of the Robert Browning poem ‘The Pied Piper Of Hamelin’ for adult and children’s choirs is finally complete!
It’s been a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun converting pages of notes and sketches into a (hopefully) satisfying piece of music. Now comes the ‘road testing’ of the different parts to iron out any rough edges before rehearsals begin in the spring.
Make sure you join us all at the premier performance, which will take place on:
Saturday 9th May 2026 7:30 p.m.
at The Great Hall, Liverpool Hope University, Creative Campus, L6 1HP
and will feature:
- Hope Metropolitan Singers, Richard Lea, Director
- Liverpool Oriel Singers, Rüdiger Ruwe, Director
- The Brixi Singers, Richard Lea, Director
- The choirs of local schools
- Piano, percussion and soloists

Further performances of this concert will be announced in due course.
More information about the piece can be found here.
