The Sprig Of Thyme

Unaccompanied Choir with Solo Soprano

This was written for the final concert of the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Concerts Society 2018-9 season, and is an arrangement of a song first documented in the second half of the seventeenth century. The song appears in several different guises – ‘Let no man steal your thyme’ is another variant which was sung by Carey Mulligan in the film ‘Far from the madding crowd’. This version is set for solo soprano and SATB (with occasional divisi).
